Reardon Therapies provides independent speech and language assessments and therapy for children and young people across South Wales, from Swansea to Newport and north to Abergavenny. We can work with your child at home, in school or in the community.
Every child communicates differently. We support children and young people with speech sounds, understanding and using language, social communication, and finding ways to express their needs and ideas. We also work with autistic children and those with developmental differences, learning difficulties or acquired brain injuries.
Our starting point is to get to know your child: what they enjoy, what they find difficult and what matters to them and their family.
An assessment helps us understand your child’s communication strengths and needs. Depending on their age and the reason for referral, this may involve conversation with you and their school, observation, play-based activities or formal assessment.
We’ll explain what we find in clear language and discuss practical recommendations and whether therapy would be helpful.
Therapy is planned around your child’s goals and everyday life. Sessions may focus on speech sounds, understanding language, expressing ideas or communicating with other people. We work with families and school staff so that useful strategies can be carried into daily routines.
The frequency and length of therapy are agreed with you following an initial discussion or assessment.
Communication is more than speech. We can explore approaches such as signing, visuals, communication boards and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. We’ll consider what helps your child communicate most effectively and support the people around them to use those approaches too.
We can work with your child in school and share practical strategies with staff. Where appropriate, we can contribute to meetings, provide written advice and work alongside other professionals to support consistent communication across settings.
